Simplifying e-signing experience

"Client" (Client under NDA*) is a leading provider of PDF software solutions designed for businesses of all sizes. Its flagship product, "Client", offers powerful editing, collaboration, and security features, allowing teams to create, modify, and share PDF documents effortlessly. With a user-friendly interface and cloud integration, "Client" enhances productivity by enabling real-time collaboration and secure document management, empowering organizations to streamline their workflows and protect sensitive information.

In the current digital landscape, users often face inefficiencies when signing PDF documents electronically. Most existing e-sign solutions require users to switch between viewing and signing modes or even navigate away from the document entirely to complete the signing process. This leads to a disjointed experience, causing frustration and wasted time for users who want a seamless, uninterrupted workflow when reviewing and signing documents. For businesses, this can result in lower user satisfaction, reduced productivity, and slower contract completion times.

To address this challenge, we designed an e-sign PDF product that enables users to view and sign PDFs simultaneously without leaving the document interface. By integrating the signing feature directly into the PDF viewer and with a built-in toolbar, users can format text, update headings, and make changes directly within the PDF without leaving the interface. This all-in-one solution simplifies the reviewing, editing, and signing process, saving time and streamlining tasks for both individuals and businesses. The streamlined interface will also promote quicker document turnaround, contributing to better user satisfaction and productivity.

To inform our e-sign PDF product design, we conducted secondary research analyzing leading solutions like Google Docs, DocuSign, and PandaDoc.

Google Docs excels in real-time collaboration, enabling simultaneous editing and enhancing productivity.

In contrast, DocuSign focuses on secure electronic signatures with an intuitive interface but lacks robust editing features, requiring users to edit elsewhere.

While PandaDoc offers document creation and built-in editing tools, it still separates the editing and signing processes.

This research underscores the need for an integrated solution that combines editing and signing functionalities in one interface, ultimately improving efficiency and user experience.
