The goal with Great Fire Rum was to highlight the powerful and intriguing contrast between tragedy and beauty. Back in 1889, The Great Seattle Fire was a devastating event that wiped out the entire downtown area. But even in the face of such tragedy, there was a remarkable beauty in how the community came together, determined to rebuild their beloved city. Inspiration was taken from this stark interplay of emotions, combining new and old typography sourced from a vintage type specimen book. The typography was meticulously altered to create a wholly unique design. Additionally, I hand-drew the old water tank, a symbolic relic from that era. Lastly, gold embellishments that catch the light and draw your attention, much like the flicker of a fire.
