This wine package design was heavily inspired by Lepidopterophobia, the fear of butterflies. You read that right, butterflies. Crafted with the goal of conveying this fear and evoking specific emotions of uneasiness and true horror through a Rorschach concept. Much like a Rorschach inkblot test, this design intentionally presents a dichotomy—where some perceive a beautiful butterfly and others a very unsettling image. The typography, drawn from a rare specimen book, underwent multiple rounds of scanning, printing, recreation, and texturing, resulting in a completely unique wordmark. Leveraging the transparency and natural distortion of the white wine bottle, the label's backside features an inkblot pattern that elicits a sense of fear and unease similar to Lepidopterophobia. This delicate balance plays on the human psyche, where some find positivity and others a touch of the disquieting, much like the experience of a Rorschach test.
