Tagline: Redefining eco-conscious luxury through editorial UI/UX and high-converting design.
Role: Lead UI/UX Designer & Systems Architect
Tools: Figma, Auto Layout, Component Systems, Prototyping
Timeline: 3 Weeks
2. Project Overview
Bloom & Root is a high-end sustainable fashion brand crafting timeless garments from organic linen and eco-friendly fabrics. The goal was to build a digital storefront that matches the tactile, premium quality of their physical products while driving seamless online sales.
3. About the Client
Dedicated to mindful fashion, Bloom & Root creates clothing for the modern woman who values comfort, sustainability, and understated elegance. Their brand mission revolves around skin-friendly textiles and positive mental well-being through serene apparel.
4. The Challenge
Despite having top-tier products, the brand's online presence lacked high-fashion identity and strategic conversion triggers:
Low visual engagement due to generic layout hierarchy.
Poor mobile experience and cluttered navigation.
Inability to effectively highlight fabric quality and sustainability specs.
5. Research
Target Audience Analysis: Eco-conscious consumers, luxury fashion buyers, and shoppers looking for sustainable, long-lasting apparel.
Competitor Benchmarking: Studied editorial e-commerce layouts (Ssense, Jacquemus, Zara) to balance minimalist aesthetics with clear e-commerce UX patterns.
6. Design Process
We adopted a user-centric design workflow:
Discover: Brand values, user personas, and pain-point analysis.
Define: E-commerce architecture, navigation maps, and conversion goals.
Develop: Layout exploration, editorial typography grids, and responsive components.
Deliver: High-fidelity prototypes, interactive micro-states, and design tokens.
7. Wireframes
Created low-fidelity and mid-fidelity wireframes to test layout pacing and structural flow:
Editorial Grids: Asymmetrical image placement for a boutique magazine feel.
Sticky Checkout Hooks: Easy-access CTA placement on single-product pages to boost conversion.
8. UI Exploration
Typography: Elegant serif display headings paired with clean sans-serif body copy for editorial readability.
Color Palette: Warm off-white backgrounds (#F9F8F3), deep forest greens, and neutral beige tones reflecting organic linen.
9. Final Design
Homepage: Immersive hero banners, seasonal drop showcases, and brand story highlights.
Product Detail Page (PDP): Clear sizing scales (XSS–XXL), fabric care indicators (Butter Soft, Easy Care), and social proof reviews.
Catalog & Filtering: Instant filter bar sorting by price, color, availability, and fabric type.
10. Responsive Screens
Desktop (1440px+): Spacious layout with editorial photo grids and dual-column PDPs.
Mobile (390px): Mobile-first bottom bar navigation, touch-friendly product carousels, and quick-add drawer menus.
11. Design System
Typography Scale: Editorial Display, H1-H4, Body Regular/Medium, Caption.
Components: Auto Layout buttons, form inputs, dynamic product cards, filter badges, and variant sets.
Iconography: Minimalist line icons for clean, uncluttered navigation.
12. Prototype
Built an interactive Figma prototype featuring:
Smooth page transition flows between catalog and product pages.
Hover states for CTA buttons and image overlays.
Micro-interactions for variant selections and filter toggles.
Whitespace is Functional: Generous spacing elevates luxury perception while making complex product details easier to digest.
