What If Your Answers Could Build Your Home?
I recently worked on this interactive Southwest Home Builder, where a simple questionnaire gradually brings the customer's property to life.
Choose the house type, yard, pool, solar panels, garage, or pets — and watch the property change with every answer.
Instead of ending with a list of selections, users get to see the home they're describing come together in real time.
Building a Living Property with Rive
The experience starts from an empty construction site and gradually builds into a complete property.
I added reveal and build-up animations for each selection, along with subtle details like pool ripples, swaying trees, and moving clouds to keep the scene feeling alive even when the user isn't interacting.
One Rive File, Many Possible Homes
Rather than creating a separate animation for every possible combination, I built the property as a modular system inside one Rive file.
House types, yards, pools, solar panels, garages, and pets exist as reusable components and states that can be controlled directly from code.
This keeps the integration simple while making it much easier to add new options, combinations, and even new architectural styles in the future.
