A very short article on the ethereum merge
If you follow all things cryptocurrency, you’ve probably heard about the upcoming Ethereum upgrade called the Merge. Six years in the making, this merge is going to bring down transactions costs while speeding up the transaction processing times.

What Does the Merge Mean?

Ethereum is known as one of the most used blockchains in the world, falling second to bitcoin. The Merge of Ethereum is going to work to minimize the number of computers and people necessary to add blockchains to the Ethereum network.

This process is being called the Merge because there are currently several different ways to create new blockchains. The developers of the Merge are working on combining many of these already existing methods into one streamlined process that is supposed to be eco-friendly and more secure than current methods.

When is the Merge Happening?

There isn’t a set release date yet on when the Merge is going to happen, but it has been said that the developers want to have all of their finishing touches added by September 19, 2022.

The Merge is finally ready to be implemented because the Ethereum network is stable enough to handle different financial payments, trade cryptocurrency, and store non-fungible tokens. Currently, the network can perform about 15 transactions per second, and the Merge is the first step of allowing the network to perform as many as 100,000 transactions per second.

Will the Merge Make Cryptocurrency Safer?

It is highly possible that the Merge will make it safer to use cryptocurrency. With the development of Ethereum, developers were using two blockchains together called the Beacon and the Mainnet. Using both blockchains together made it easier for hackers to find entry points and attack Ethereum.
After the Merge, the Mainnet will no longer be used. Transitioning to one blockchain will greatly reduce the odds of the Ethereum network being hacked and compromising Ethereum.
