Hina Javed Design House — Personal Branding Case Study

One-line summary: A full personality-driven brand identity built around a real person, translating her character into a logo, color system, and complete stationery suite.

Overview

This project is a complete brand identity built for Mam Hina Javed, one of my teachers — treating a real person's personality as the foundation for a design house brand. The challenge was to take someone known for being strict and no-nonsense, but also warm and supportive underneath it, and turn that contradiction into a likeable, cohesive visual identity rather than flattening it into something generic. The result is a playful, hand-lettered logo paired with a full applied identity system: letterhead, business cards, envelopes, and a keychain.

My Role

Brand Designer — I handled concept development, logo design, illustration, color system, and all applied stationery design using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

The Brief

The assignment was to design a brand around a real teacher: capture their personality, use their name as the brand name, and showcase who they are through visual identity rather than literal description.

Process

Character translation: Rather than designing a "neutral" professional logo, I built a portrait mark of Mam Hina Javed with a deliberately grumpy expression — a nod to her signature look — paired with a soft, rounded wordmark to represent her warmer, supportive side. The contrast between the two is the whole concept.
Color system: I chose a palette of mustard yellow, green, and blue to keep the brand feeling energetic and approachable rather than corporate, with each color reused consistently across every touchpoint.
Identity system: I extended the mark across a full stationery suite — letterhead, business card, envelope, and a keychain — to show how the identity holds up in both digital and print applications, not just as a standalone logo.
Supporting motifs: Star/asterisk shapes recur throughout the system as a flexible decorative element, tying the collateral together even where the main portrait mark isn't present (e.g., the envelope and letterhead).
