Ember Living | Brand Building

Welcome to Ember Living — a community-led brand built around connection, rhythm, and modern hospitality. Originally conceived within the co-living space, Ember evolved into something broader: a platform for gathering, growth, and shared experience. Designed for curious, socially-minded individuals who want more from where and how they live, Ember creates momentum through intentional design and collective energy.
The identity system reflects that balance — grounded yet alive, refined yet expressive. From the Ember Spark mark to the confident typographic voice and event-first visual language, every element is built to scale across digital and physical touchpoints. Ember isn’t just a place — it’s a signal. A call to step forward, show up, and belong with intention.

The Creative Insight: Designed Belonging
Ember began with a simple tension: people don’t just want a place to stay — they want to feel part of something.
In a world shaped by remote work, constant movement, and surface-level connection, belonging has become fragmented. Most brands either lean heavily into aesthetics (beautiful space, no depth) or over-index on wellness (soft, slow, retreat-focused). Ember needed to sit somewhere else.
The insight was this:
Belonging doesn’t happen by accident. It can be designed.
Not designed in a forced or artificial way — but shaped intentionally through space, rhythm, language, and shared experiences.
That’s where Designed Belonging came from.
The Ember Living logo was built from the same principle that shaped the wider brand: belonging can be designed. The mark needed to feel intentional and structured, not decorative or trend-led. As the brand evolved from a co-living concept into a broader, community-first platform, the identity had to move beyond a physical space and exist confidently across digital, event, and social environments. The result is a system that is simple, architectural, and built to scale.
The wordmark forms the foundation. Set in Neue Montreal, it brings clarity, strength, and a contemporary neutrality that allows the brand to feel culturally relevant without being loud. Its geometry feels considered and modern, while subtle typographic shifts introduce softness and motion. This balance mirrors Ember’s positioning: grounded yet energetic, refined yet alive. The wordmark is designed to anchor the system consistently across all applications, from social assets to physical touchpoints.
Colour was one of the most emotionally charged and strategically important elements of the Ember Living identity. From early on, it was clear that tone would define perception. The palette needed to hold both calm and energy, grounding and movement, sophistication and spark. It had to feel modern and differentiated, but never cold or overly masculine. The result is a system built around contrast and tension — controlled neutrality paired with expressive accents.
The primary foundation is Dusk Blue. This tone grounds the brand with depth and composure. It feels confident without being aggressive, contemporary without leaning corporate. Importantly, it gives Ember weight. In a visually noisy digital environment, the blue creates space — a moment of pause — allowing typography and accent colours to breathe. It establishes credibility while still feeling warm when paired with softer neutrals.
The warm beige backdrop introduces approachability and human warmth. It softens the system and prevents the brand from feeling stark or overly graphic. This balance between structured blue and warm neutral reinforces Ember’s positioning: modern hospitality with emotional intelligence.
Chartreuse, however, is where the brand ignites. From the outset, this colour carried strong emotional resonance for the client. It represents vitality, curiosity, and forward motion. When used sparingly, it injects energy into the system without overwhelming it. It is not meant to dominate, but to punctuate. In digital contexts especially, it creates high-impact moments that signal confidence and boldness. The decision to retain and elevate this accent was about honouring both the strategic direction and the instinctive energy the founders wanted to protect.
Together, the palette operates as a controlled spectrum. Dusk Blue anchors. Beige warms. Chartreuse sparks. The interplay between them allows Ember to feel both grounded and alive — a brand that can host a thoughtful conversation one moment and ignite a gathering the next. The colour system is not trend-driven; it is tension-driven. And that tension is what gives Ember its presence.
