Establishing a new way to work

Contra was always imagined as an independent-first platform. It provides the tools and infrastructure needed to successfully build your career around the life you want, with zero commission fees. As an independent freelancer myself, the mission resonated with me.

How it started

I partnered with the founder to bring the mission and vision to life in 2019. Together, we refined the brand strategy, created a bold logo of converging arrows representing a place to begin, and grew a robust design system.
In 2025 we worked with Smith & Diction to evolve the brand from just a marketplace to a true creative network. Same mission, bigger vision.

Where it’s going

Our product and team continues to grow, and we're continuing to learn. I now lead a team of wildly talented people that own all brand and marketing for a variety of touch points from the in-product experience, to landing pages, to social, and more.
