The moon has always played an important role in the lives of human beings. Throughout history the moon has been linked to being one of the original sources of worship and power. Humans of all times have noticed the influence the moon has over our lives, and how each cycle and phases of the moon affect us differently. Most commonly, the full moon is known for causing bizarre behaviors and intense emotions, but there are actually four phases of the moon that bring different changes in our lives. Keeping track of the current moon phase can help empower you, and assist you in creating the life you desire.
The New Moon
The new moon in the period of time where the moon is no longer illuminated. The energy of the full moon can be felt for three days, the day before the new moon, the day of, and the day after. During these times it's important to figure out what you truly desire and what you want to manifest. These can be small desires or lofty ones, but it's important to being to plant the seeds of these creations. The new moon is like fresh soil—the perfect starting point in growing a beautiful plant. This period is very beneficial to start looking towards the future. The new moon can also feel like a time of relief, and you may experience inspiration and enthusiasm for life—more so than usual. This is because you are no longer in a period of release, like you may be during the full moon and waxing phase..
New Moon Rituals
Write down your goals and your intentions. This will plant the seeds, and ignite the energies that will allow your desires to manifest. Putting an idea out into the universe is the first step in creating it. Manifesting also includes taking action—and the new moon is the perfect starting point in doing so.
Light a candle—and while it's lit recite what your desire. Not only do your words contain energy—so does the candle, which will help ignite your intentions.
Practice gratitude. In order to bring in abundance and joy into your life, you have to be in a state of gratitude. Writing down or meditating on what you're grateful for right now, will only bring more things to be grateful for into your life.

The Waxing Moon – Waxing Crescent & Waxing Gibbous
The waxing moon can be imagined as the time where seeds are beginning to root and grow. This period lasts around 11-14 days. The first half of this phase is thewaxing crescent moon. This phase is where the first sliver of light appears after the new moon. Stems and leaves are sprouting and you're seeing signs of your desires coming into fruition. During this time it's important to keep the momentum of your manifesting going. Take action. Start putting the work into what's needed to achieve your goals. The second half of this phase is thewaxing gibbous. The moon is more than halfway illuminated and it's light is begging to grow and move towards becoming full. During this time energies are assisting you in helping you stay focused and motivated. Choose healthier habits and stay as grounded as possible, because you need to keep your frequency high to fully attune yourself to your manifestations. By the end of this period you may have seen some of your manifestations come to pass, or the bridge of incidents needed for them to happen may have appeared before you.
Waxing Moon Rituals
Visualize. Meditate and visualize your desires as if they're happening right now. When you see yourself in your mind's eye you are creating that experience.
Spend time doing things you enjoy. Keep yourself in high spirits, this will allow wonderful things to manifest for you quickly.
Take a cleansing bath. During this time you want to keep your energy clear and free of any negativity or lower frequency attachments. In your baths you may choose to use salts to purify, and any herbs and oils that correlate with your manifestations. If you are trying to draw love into your live you may use rose petals and perfume in your bath. If you are trying to manifest financial freedom you may sprinkle calendula and dandelion in your bath.

The Full Moon
The full moon is a period of illumination and emotional intensity. This period usually last three days, the day before the full moon, the day of, and the day after. The energies may feel haywire and people may behavior out of the ordinary during this time. This moon phase is powerful because it brings to the surface the many different parts about ourselves and our lives. You may see how much has changed for you now since the start of the new moon. You'll be more aware if what you're creating is truly what you desire, or if your feelings have changed. If you experience heightened emotions, this is because you haven't properly dealt with them. Allow your emotions to come to the surface, feel them, and let them be released from your energy field. The moon can pull these intense emotions from you, and resisting this will only cause disharmony within.
Full Moon Rituals
Practice shadow work. Right now is a great time to dive deep into the depths of yourself and your subconscious. The full moon's energy makes it easier for you to recognize and evaluate your darkest feelings, motives, and emotions.
This period is a powerful time to do any cord cutting rituals, protections rituals, or banishing rituals. The energies are high and moving towards a period of release.
Now is another great time to practice gratitude and appreciation for how far you've come since the start of the new moon. You may have seen your manifestations come to pass, and it's important to recognize the good that's in your life and the power you have to create it.

The Waning Moon – Waning Crescent & Waning Gibbous
The waning moon is a time to heal, regenerate, and release. After the intensity of the full moon—it's important to reflect on how you feel about where you are during this time. This period lasts around 11-14 days. This phase is divided into two parts, the waning gibbous and the waning crescent moon. During the waning gibbous, where the moon is slowly losing its light, if there are emotions or beliefs you wish to let go of—do so during this time. There's still some intensity from the full moon lingering, and you would benefit from continuing to let go of anything that no longer serves you. Take time to allow the any left over emotions to pass.
The waning gibbous moon is a time to rest and rejuvenate. There is now less than half of the moon's light as it begins to retreat further into darkness. Spend time with yourself, and detach from the world around you. During the first part of this moon cycle you've spent much of your time focused on goals, dreams, ambitions, and any changes you desire to make. Right now is a time to accept where you're currently at, and live in the moment. Allow yourself to breathe and just be. This phase of the moon will assist you in helping pull unnecessary energy from your life, allowing you a fresh start just in time for the new moon.
Waning Moon Rituals
Cleanse your space. Now is a great time to get rid of any old energies in your home. Burn herbs and palo santo, open your windows and cupboards, and let the old energies dissipate away from your space.
Practice forgiveness. Learning to forgive is one of life's most important lessons. The waning moon is a powerful time to offer forgiveness to those people and things in your life that have caused you pain. When you forgive, you're not promoting the thing that caused you suffering, but you're accepting that it happened and choosing to continue to move forward.
Reversing any spells or manifestations may be beneficial during this time. If you've had a change of heart for something you've invested energy into, retrieve that energy and cut off it's source of energy so it's no longer being empowered in your life.
Now that you're aware of the moon's cycles and the effects it has over our minds, emotions, and experiences—figure out what phase you're currently in and use these tools to start manifesting. The moon can be a powerful tool to help you transform yourself and the world around you. Harness it's energies and allow it to work in your favor.
