Project Overview

The Digital Operator: Cameron Gawley Portfolio
Cameron Gawley's digital headquarters is a strategic portfolio built in Webflow—a scalable platform where founders access systems, frameworks, and deep-dive case studies on scaling DTC brands. The goal was to transition the client from "consultant" to "institution," bridging the gap between high-fidelity design in Figma and a pixel-perfect, client-maintainable live site.

The Challenge

Establish Authority: Visually communicate $500M+ in generated revenue without feeling corporate or stiff. • Organize Complexity: Create distinct, scalable CMS structures for Systems (GrowBrands), Advisory, and Ventures (FlightPlan). • Drive Conversion: Capture high-intent leads for the "Operator Breakdown" newsletter without disrupting the reading experience.

The Solution

I created a comprehensive Design System in Figma to establish the visual language before moving into development. The site was built in Webflow using a "Client-First" class naming convention for maintainability. The aesthetic merges "Editorial" (serif headings, cream backgrounds) with "Tactical" (dark mode sections, monospace data points).
We leveraged Webflow’s CMS Collections to power the case studies and insights, ensuring the client can publish new content without touching the core design.

Design & Build Highlights

The "Operator" Aesthetic (Figma to Webflow)

Typography: Bitstream Cooper (Serif) for warmth, paired with DM Sans for utility. Styles were defined in Figma variables and mapped to Webflow global classes. • Color Theory: Forest Green and Cream for heritage; Electric Lime for tactical focus. • Impact: A consistent design system that distinguishes the brand from generic agency templates.

The Conversion Engine

Dark Mode Interrupts: Global components were created for key conversion sections that switch to Charcoal backgrounds to break visual rhythm. • Membership Card UI: The newsletter form uses custom CSS within Webflow to mimic a premium physical club card. • Social Proof: Integrated dynamic lists showcasing "+12k founders" to validate the ask. • Impact: Increases perceived value of the free newsletter.

Scalable CMS Architecture

Dynamic Case Studies: I built a robust CMS structure that breaks messy founder stories into strict "Problem → Decision → Outcome" fields. • Interactive Grid: The homepage features a Collection List wrapper with custom hover interactions that reveal key stats (29M). • Impact: Allows the client to update their portfolio in minutes, not days.

Motion & Rhythm

Infinite Marquee: A seamless CSS loop showing partners like Google and Bloomberg. • Micro-interactions: Native Webflow Interactions (IX2) applied to buttons and links for distinct lime-accented hover states.

User-Centered Design & Growth

✔️ Behavioral Capture: Custom Javascript triggers a modal only after 30s of engagement or 50% scroll depth. ✔️ Performance First: Optimized images (WebP) and clean code structure for high Lighthouse scores. ✔️ SEO Optimized: Semantic HTML tags and auto-generated sitemaps via Webflow settings.

Process

Discovery → Wireframing & Design System (Figma) → High-Fidelity Prototyping → Webflow Development (Client-First System) → CMS Integration → Interaction Design → QA & Launch
