Overview

The challenge was to create a distinctive brand for Repel Umbrella that stands out in a crowded market while reinforcing trust, style, and reliability. The goal? To make people feel confident and stylish, knowing they’re covered—literally and figuratively.

The Challenge

Let’s be real: umbrellas are everywhere. The tricky part was building a brand that didn’t just feel functional but also premium, modern, and relatable.
Key challenges included:
1. Positioning Repel Umbrella as a trustworthy, high-quality choice.
2. Infusing personality into the brand so it feels both premium and human.
3. Creating a visual identity that seamlessly ties into the message: “Defies the Rain.”

The Strategy

To stand out, I took a user-first approach, blending premium aesthetics with a relatable tone:
1. Core Values: Positioned the brand around Customer Centricity, Quality Craftsmanship, and Exclusivity.
2. Personality Over Product: Developed a brand personality emphasizing intelligence, confidence, and style—so customers feel like they’re buying more than just an umbrella.
3. Emotional Connection: Focused on evoking trust, security, and even a little pride in owning an umbrella that feels like an accessory.

The Design

Here’s how the branding came to life:
Logo Design: Clean, modern, and instantly recognizable, with a subtle nod to protection through a droplet motif.
Typography: A mix of Raleway (strong yet approachable for headers) and Plus Jakarta Sans (modern and clean for body text) to keep it sleek.
Color Palette:
• Midnight Blue: Sophistication and trust.
• Sunset: A bold, premium pop of energy.
• Emerald: Freshness and vibrancy for a modern touch.
• Fog and Pearl White: A balance of calm and elegance.
Photography Guidelines:
• Focused on relatable, stylish imagery featuring natural settings and warm tones.
• Showcased umbrellas as part of daily routines, blending style with functionality.

Takeaways

• A strong brand starts with understanding your audience’s needs and values.
• Visual consistency across elements (logo, color, typography) creates trust and memorability.
• Even the most functional products can be elevated with the right emotional and visual story.
Repel Umbrella now doesn’t just “protect from rain” - it builds trust and style into every drop.
