Client brief:

"We are making a TV commercial for The World Pickleball League Championship. We love the ad we've made but we need to end with a punch for maximum impact. We have footage of a player making a shot. But we need a CGI pickleball to be shot at directly towards the camera that morphs into the logo of the event. It needs to be impactful"

Post-Production Notes (Scope of work)

Production Team did not record an HDRI or reference images of the ball, so lighting was always going to be a challenge.
Started with virtually building the set and simulating real-life lighting conditions. Emulated pickleball material properties to best match preceding shots.
The shot had stray movement on the jib, which looked visually disturbing once time-ramped.
Manually stabilized the shot and used AI based set extension to fill clipped frames post-stabilisation. Result- Rock Solid Zoom Out with no stray camera movement.
Post time-ramp, the.subject had stray lateral movement that looked jarring.
Composited a time remapped plate of the subject over time-ramped base clip to minimize lateral subject movement.
Merging 3D pickleball with 2D client logo, with varying texture, color and perforation density.
Created a fluid 2D animation that used the momentum of the 3D ball to transition seamlessly.
