Small Talks Online | Community-Driven English Speaking Platform

Overview
Small Talks Online is a community-based English speaking platform designed to help people overcome the fear of speaking and build real-life confidence through guided conversation events and private lessons.
This project covers the complete redesign and rebuild of the platform.
The website was designed and developed in Framer, while the checkout and payment flow were built as a fully custom system using Next.js 15.
The goal was simple: Create a modern, human, and trustworthy experience that turns hesitation into participation.

The Problem

Most people don’t struggle with grammar. They struggle with speaking.
Through user research and real participant feedback, we identified recurring problems:
Freezing when trying to speak English
Lack of real conversation practice
Low confidence in social environments
Traditional courses feeling cold, slow, and disconnected from real life
Small Talks is not a language course. It is a social system designed for real conversation.
The challenge was translating that energy, safety, and community feeling into a digital experience.

The Solution

We redesigned Small Talks Online as a community-first platform where users instantly understand:
What the events are
How they work
Who they are for
Why they feel safe joining alone
The experience was built around clarity, warmth, and flow. No pressure. No academic language. No fake marketing promises.

Design Approach

Visual Language

Calm but energetic color palette
Real photography only, no artificial stock feeling
Clean typography focused on readability
Soft motion and subtle transitions to reduce friction
The design avoids aggressive sales language. Instead, it builds trust through transparency and structure.

Website Architecture

The website was designed and built in Framer, optimized for speed, clarity, and scalability.
Key sections include:
Hero section with instant value proposition
Event flow explained step by step
Social proof with real photos and videos
Memberships and ticket system
FAQ focused on real user anxieties
Separate Private Lessons experience
Every section answers a specific hesitation before it appears.

Event Experience Logic

Small Talks events follow a clear, repeatable structure:
Welcome & moderator introduction
Conversation rounds with rotating tables
Mini activities and guided topics
Free conversation, networking, and closing
This logic was visually translated into the website so users understand the experience before attending.

Membership System

Different user needs required flexible access:
Single entrance tickets
Monthly memberships
Quarterly memberships
Each option is explained clearly with no hidden conditions. Users know exactly what they get and how it works.

Custom Checkout System

The checkout flow was built from scratch using Next.js 15.
Why not a generic solution? Because trust matters.

Checkout Features

Secure payment infrastructure
Clear pricing and package logic
Automatic email confirmation
Smooth, distraction-free UX
Designed to feel like part of the brand, not an external tool
The result is a fast, reliable, and confidence-building payment experience.

Private Lessons Experience

Private lessons were designed as a separate journey.
Focus points:
100 percent speaking-oriented system
Personalized lesson planning
Level assessment and progress tracking
Real-life sentence structures and vocabulary
The flow includes:
Initial meeting and level assessment
Personal learning plan
Weekly lesson structure
Monthly progress summary
Clear expectations. Measurable progress.

Social Proof & Trust

Trust is built visually and structurally:
Real participant photos and videos
Community atmosphere shown, not described
Secure payment indicators
Clear policies and transparent information
No exaggerated promises. Just real people, real experiences.

Key Takeaway

Good design doesn’t convince people. It removes fear.
This project shows how thoughtful UX, clear structure, and human-centered design can turn a social anxiety problem into a community-driven experience.

Tools & Stack

Framer for website design and CMS
Next.js 15 for custom checkout
Secure payment infrastructure
Performance-focused frontend architecture

Final Note

This project was built end to end. From concept to execution, from design to code.
No templates. No shortcuts. Just a system designed for people.
