'World of Vic' - Megadeth
Interactive landing page for Megadeth, built with Rive 🤘🏻💀🤘🏻
Earlier this year, Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum metal legends Megadeth commissioned me to create an interactive post-apocalyptic-themed landing page.
Set in the fictional World of Vic – the dark underworld of Megadeth’s iconic mascot Vic Rattlehead, the page serves as the signposting for their exclusive digital all-access pass and includes a bunch of easter eggs inspired by the band's lore!
Users can click and drag to explore the map, and use the magnifying glass icon to zoom in. Hovering some landmarks trigger animations.
The illustration was done mostly in Adobe Illustrator, since the style required the use of the 'roughen' effect to achieve a slightly hand-drawn feel. I was also able to make use custom scripts to quickly convert flat shapes into isometric projection.
Some of the animated elements were illustrated inside Rive, then some elements; textures, backgrounds etc were sourced from photographs or generated with AI and layered in using Photoshop. All of the animation and interactions were done inside of Rive.

The World of Vic splash page feels like stepping into a digital comic book of Megadeth’s universe. Ashley managed to capture a strong dystopian atmosphere while hiding deep cuts that reward fans who dig deeper into the page.

Our fans don’t just listen to the music. They live the lore. This map gave them a place to explore it. Ashley’s work with Rive to create this map turned out amazing. He packed it with Easter eggs, and while plenty have been uncovered, some secrets are still hiding in plain sight.
