When I started exploring the German Test App, I noticed something essential was missing: ease and clarity. The app is meant to support users as they prepare for a critical test on German citizenship law. However, based on user feedback, the app’s navigation felt more like a maze than a straightforward guide. Users were struggling to find their way through it, unsure of where to tap or how to reach key features. Plus, the app’s visual design felt dated—almost like a missed opportunity to engage and reassure users with a modern, polished interface. These discoveries set the foundation for my approach: I wanted to create a user-centered experience that was both easy to navigate and visually engaging

The core issues with the app were rooted in two areas: UX and UI. On the UX side, the navigation was confusing, leaving users frustrated and uncertain about how to achieve even simple actions. This wasn’t just about aesthetics; the outdated design was impacting usability, making the app less effective as a study tool. The UI, too, hadn’t kept pace with current design standards. It lacked the clean, professional look that users now expect, especially from educational apps where clarity and trustworthiness are critical. Ultimately, the app felt out of sync with its audience’s needs and expectations.

To tackle these challenges, I started with in-depth UX research. I wanted to really understand how users interact with the app, what their pain points were, and how I could design a better experience for them. This research informed the new user flow and wireframes I created, focusing on intuitive navigation and seamless access to key features. Once the framework was in place, I moved to a complete UI redesign, focusing on a clean, minimal, and modern aesthetic that feels both inviting and professional. I also developed a comprehensive design system for the brand, ensuring a cohesive and scalable approach as the app evolves. The result is a reimagined app that is easy to use, visually engaging, and fully aligned with the needs of its users—making the journey toward mastering German citizenship law a whole lot smoother.
