When The Storm Fades Feature Film

Shane Supernova

This project began in the Philippines in 2015. A small cast + crew traveled to create a film about the lingering aspects of the climate crisis on a small seaside community destroyed by typhoon Haiyan. Shot over 4 weeks, my initial duties as supervising producer included scheduling, locations, and overseeing the director. Other duties included a combination of administrative and creative tasks. Following that I created a crowdfunding campaign and marketing strategy which raised over $15,000. As the years passed and we got closer to the festival circuit, my duties turned to designing film posters, EPKs, distribution kits, and other marketing materials. Lastly, the time came to oversee all aspects of film distribution and marketing, including engagement strategy, planning, execution and measurement. Main responsibilities were developing and managing local and national partnerships, creating and maintaining crowdfunding campaigns, assisting in identifying and managing PR vendors and establishing PR goals. On January 20, 2020 we managed to successfully orchestrate a Canadian theatrical release of the film. In partnership with Cineplex theatres we screened in 15 cities across Canada, taking in over $25,000 in a one-night only release strategy. Using social media, press releases, community partnerships, and targeted Facebook ads we became the most successful self-distributed film in Telefilm's history.
