Telegram and Viber assistant that tests a student’s English level, books oral tests and Cambridge exams, and takes course payments.
Role: Team lead and software architect; bot core
Client: English language school and Cambridge exam centre, Ukraine
Team: 3 developers
Period: 2021–2022
Challenge
An English school that also runs Cambridge exams was spending manager time on the same conversations: which course fits, what the schedule is, how to book a level check or an exam date. The school wanted a messenger assistant that answers these questions around the clock, qualifies new students with a placement test and passes clean leads to its CRM, while staff keep full control of the content.
Solution
The bot runs on BotMother, our in-house cross-platform PHP framework, so one codebase serves Telegram and Viber in Ukrainian and Russian. Courses, events and Cambridge exams live in a Laravel + Voyager admin with per-language translations, where managers also read and answer student dialogues. A 32-question placement test maps answers to a CEFR level; oral-test and exam slots come live from Google Calendar. Sign-ups sync to AlfaCRM, and WayForPay payments are confirmed in the chat. I designed the architecture and led the team of three.
