Standing In My Flower Crown

Rose McAteer

Standing in my flower crown
all across the week
Standing in my flower crown
I was once so meek
Standing in my flower crown
I was so alone
Standing in my flower crown
I couldn’t find a way back home
Standing in my flower crown
I sagged and looked askance
Standing in my flower crown
no one asking me to dance
Standing in my flower crown,
the petals flutter and fall
Standing in  my flower crown
I think of the people I love, and realize
I miss them all
Standing in my flower crown
the breeze causes leaves and blossoms to sway
fairy lanterns ignite the night
Standing in my flower crown
the party looks so nice
so full of friendly people
good fun and harmless vice
Standing in my flower crown
if I could be whisked away
to anywhere but here
there’s nothing I wouldn’t pay
Standing in my flower crown,
I set my fears aside
standing in my flower crown,
I approached the woods
and step inside

This is a poem for days when heavy is the head that wears the crown, even when it is made of flowers.
