Capiñol — iOS app design & build: learn Spanish from videos by Aleksandr BorisovCapiñol — iOS app design & build: learn Spanish from videos by Aleksandr Borisov
Capiñol is my own iOS app, coming soon to the App Store: learn Spanish from short, real videos. It turns Spanish YouTube clips into lessons. Tap any word in the subtitles, see idioms and slang flagged, and keep what you learn with swipe flashcards. Or paste your own link and get a private lesson.
Learn from the Spanish you would watch anyway. Short clips from Spain and Latin America, with every word in the subtitles clickable, and Capi the capybara to keep the streak going.
What I built
Product and UX/UI design: clip feed with tappable subtitles, word sheet, verb forms, word list and flashcard review
iOS app with Expo + React Native, backed by Supabase
Idioms and slang flagged in the subtitles; every tense explained, with irregular forms in red
Swipe flashcards with spaced repetition (FSRS): Again or Know it
Paste any YouTube link to turn its subtitles into a private lesson
English and Russian interface, the App Store listing and a 7-slide screenshot set
My role
Solo: product, design, iOS development and App Store preparation.
The real app: a clip with tappable subtitles, a word sheet, flashcard review, the word list and a lesson from your own link.
The 7-slide App Store screenshot set, with Capi the capybara as the guide.
