Abbott's global health and education platform needed a short animated video to increase the impact of a review article published in Frontiers in Nutrition, a leading food science journal. The article, 'Evolution of the Diagnosis of Malnutrition in Adults – A Primer for Clinicians,' is a comprehensive summary of existing research in nutrition.
Through a collaborative effort, we transformed the 5,400-word review article into a compelling 6-minute animated video. I directed the voiceover narration and animated the visuals, bringing to life the expertly crafted script, storyboards, and illustrations developed by our team.
I provided creative direction to ensure that the visuals emphasized the major takeaways of the scientific article.
For example: key recommendations for clinicians to diagnose malnutrition include assessing weight loss, and loss of muscle integrity.
The animated video increased visibility of this important publication, which now has more than 10,000 total reviews and downloads – more views than 77% of all articles in Frontiers in Nutrition's open-access journal. The video is available as a resource on Abbott Nutrition Health Institute's website, where healthcare professionals can further their education.
