Most quick browser games don't carry any real regional identity — generic mechanics with a reskin. I wanted to see how fast I could build something that felt distinctly Himachali instead.
What I built
Hillrun is a free browser runner game. You play a Pahadi character collecting apples, monal feathers (Himachal's state bird), and dhaam (Himachali cuisine) for points, while dodging potholes, yaks, cows, and temple bells. Picking up a Kullu shawl grants temporary invincibility. No sign-up or login needed, no purchase required — it's entirely free.
How it's built
Built solo in about 5 hours
Phaser 2D game framework for the game engine
Claude Code and Open Claw as coding agents
Deployed on Vercel
Why it matters
Built for love of the region — a small, fun project that's simple but unmistakably Himachali rather than a generic template. Still actively being developed.
