It's Colder When It Rains (Shot/Short Film)

FADE IN:
INT. BAR - EVENING
A PUSH propels the camera forward through a bar. Women are dressed in sparkly outfits, some vaguely resembling flapper dresses. A man, JOSH (30’s), is seen receiving a lap dance from a thin, blonde WOMAN. The STORM outside rages on.
(V.O.) KENNEDY
There’s a reason that the temperature drops when it rains.
The woman kisses Josh passionately, then resumes her dance like nothing happened.
(V.O.) KENNEDY (tearily)
Rain requires heat— and no, not the heat of two bodies fervently pressing together while a lover weeps.
Josh takes off his wedding ring and stares at it. He pockets it, then resumes kissing the woman.
(V.O.) KENNEDY (angry)
But sultry feelings.

CUT TO:

INT. HOUSE – NIGHT
Josh SLAMS the door on his way in. His wife, KENNEDY (30), sits on the couch.
KENNEDY
It’s late.
JOSH
Yeah, I got held up in a meeting.
KENNEDY
Is that why you reek of booze?
JOSH (dryly)
What do you want me to say, Kennedy?
KENNEDY (frustrated)
I want you to be honest with me for once in your goddamn life! I know you’re seeing someone else. Every time you come home you stink of cheap perfume.
JOSH
Yeah, well.
KENNEDY
That’s all you have to say?
Josh pushes past her and starts going upstairs.
KENNEDY (tearily)(CONT’D)
You despicable bastard! I should’ve never married-
Before she could finish, Josh backhands her, which throws her to the foot of the stairs.
JOSH
Go stay with your parents.
Josh vanishes from sight.
Kennedy
In your vows you promised you’d never even look at another woman.
The bedroom door SLAMS.
Kennedy remains on the floor, SOBBING.
CUT TO:
INT. BASEMENT – NIGHT
Kennedy pulls a book out of thin air. The book is purple and has a photo of Cerberus on the front. A circular formation of candles surrounds her along with a pentagram. Kennedy chants something, presumably in Latin. With a FLASH, a deformed person, CHAX, appears standing in the middle of the pentagram.
CHAX
This place is… interesting. I haven’t been summoned to the mainland in a while.
Kennedy stiffens.
KENNEDY
I need your help.
CHAX
Oh?
KENNEDY
My husband is a bastard.
CHAX
Okay.
KENNEDY
And I think he needs to face consequences for his actions.
CHAX Sure, but what’s in it for me?
KENNEDY
I’ll do anything.
CHAX
Anything?
CHAX SNAPS his fingers, and suddenly, SCREAMING can be heard upstairs.
KENNEDY
What did you do?
CHAX Want to check together?
The two run upstairs.
CUT TO:

INT. MAIN FLOOR – NIGHT
JOSH
Kennedy! Kennedy!
The damage done is painfully evident. Blood spurts from Josh’s eyes, ruining the white carpet.
JOSH (CONT’D)
Kennedy, I can’t see!
Josh stumbles down the stairs blindly, then Kennedy realizes his eyes are missing.
KENNEDY (whispers)
Oh my God.
Josh writhes on the floor in pain.
CHAX
Psh, you’re expecting God to hear you? Especially after you’re indebted to me?
KENNEDY
What are you talking about?
Chax SNAPS his fingers again.
CUT TO:

EXT. HELL – SOME PASSAGE OF TIME
SCREAMING can be heard emitting from everywhere.
CHAX
Welcome to Hell.
