Objective: To develop a user-friendly platform that leverages AI to create stunning and professional PowerPoint presentations, addressing the limitations of existing tools in the market.

The journey to building GenPPT.com started with a simple conversation with a friend who owns an SEO agency. He sent me a list of top search results from an affiliate site, and among them, at number ten, was a tool for AI-generated PowerPoint presentations. Despite never having created such a tool before, I was intrigued and motivated by the challenge. My experience with existing AI presentation tools had left much to be desired—they either produced poor designs or simply dumped blocks of text onto slides. I saw a clear opportunity to create something better, something that combined aesthetic appeal with intelligent content generation.

Fueled by this vision, I immediately set to work. I chose to build the platform using Next.js for its robust front-end capabilities and Anthropic Claude for the AI component due to its advanced natural language processing abilities. Remarkably, in just four hours, I had developed the Minimum Viable Product (MVP). This rapid development phase was unexpected, and the initial response was overwhelmingly positive—within the first week, GenPPT.com attracted 600 unique visitors just from my X (Twitter) progress updates.

The positive reception of the MVP was a significant motivator. I knew that to maintain and grow this momentum, continuous improvement was essential. I integrated Supabase for authentication, ensuring secure and seamless user access. Understanding the importance of variety in presentation designs, I added more themes to cater to diverse user preferences. Each update was aimed at enhancing the user experience, making it easier for anyone to create professional-quality presentations effortlessly.

Throughout this development journey, I embraced a transparent and engaging approach by documenting every step on Twitter. Building in public not only kept me accountable but also allowed me to gather real-time feedback from the community. This open dialogue was invaluable; it helped me identify and prioritize features, troubleshoot issues, and ultimately build a product that truly meets user needs.
