The Focus Formula — eBook & Digital Product Cover Design
A bold, contemporary digital book cover concept that combines expressive typography, cinematic portraiture, and immersive product presentation.
The Focus Formula is an original, self-initiated design concept for a productivity and personal development guide exploring deeper concentration, stronger habits, and intentional daily routines.
The project was developed to demonstrate how a digital product can establish a memorable visual identity through distinctive cover design, cohesive art direction, and realistic presentation across multiple formats.
Creative Direction & Visual Concept
The creative direction draws from urban editorial design, contemporary streetwear aesthetics, and experimental publication graphics.
At the center of the cover is a striking portrait of a young man wearing headphones, dressed in a contemporary black-and-orange outfit. His thoughtful expression introduces a human element that connects the visual identity to the themes of focus, discipline, and personal growth.
A dramatic orange circular graphic frames the portrait, while architectural silhouettes, distressed textures, and expressive visual details introduce depth and movement.
The surrounding industrial environment extends the cover's visual language into the physical presentation, using graffiti-inspired graphics, textured surfaces, warm lighting, and carefully coordinated accessories.
This creates a unified visual experience in which the book cover and its environment feel like parts of the same creative world.
Typography & Visual Identity
Typography is the defining element of the design.
The word FOCUS dominates the composition through oversized, expressive brush lettering, creating immediate visual impact.
It is contrasted with condensed uppercase lettering and refined serif typography, establishing a distinctive hierarchy between the main title, supporting words, and descriptive copy.
The palette combines deep black, vivid orange, and warm ivory, reinforcing the energetic urban aesthetic.
Layered textures, rough graphic edges, and hand-drawn accents give the cover a tactile quality while maintaining a polished digital presentation.
Multi-Device Product Presentation
The final artwork demonstrates how the same cover identity translates across multiple formats.
The hardcover book establishes the primary visual identity, while the laptop, tablet, and smartphone showcase the cover in realistic digital environments.
Maintaining consistent typography, imagery, and color treatment across each device reinforces the product's recognizable identity.
The coordinated mockups allow viewers to imagine the design as a professionally packaged digital publication rather than an isolated graphic.
Content Communication
The cover introduces four key themes through a series of supporting visual icons and short descriptions:
Eliminating distractions to improve concentration.
Building better habits for everyday consistency.
Creating a focused daily routine.
Maintaining productivity over the long term.
These details provide additional context while supporting the overall editorial composition.
Design Outcome
The finished project demonstrates an approach to digital product cover design that prioritizes visual distinction, typography, consistency, and compelling presentation.
It showcases the ability to develop an original cover concept and translate its visual identity into a coordinated collection of realistic product mockups.
Created as a portfolio concept, The Focus Formula illustrates the type of creative cover design and digital product presentation I can develop for authors, educators, coaches, creators, and online businesses seeking a distinctive visual identity for their publications.
