For some background, I am a Biomedical Engineer with 30 years of experience with startups. As a biomedical engineer, I have worked on various medical solutions for cardiology, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, diabetes, orthopedic applications, diagnostic and drug discovery tools, digital health, AI/ML, and bioinformatics. I also have experience with preclinical and clinical studies, the FDA, and contract manufacturers to help scale up the manufacturing. With SBIRs focusing on commercialization, this experience helps in crafting a competitive proposal.
I'm also a Venture Scout where I help identify promising early-stage startups for venture capital (VC) funding. My company has also partnered with an equity crowdfunding equity platform and a cancer-related VC fund to help provide potential deal flow. If you are raising or plan to raise equity financing in addition to the non-dilutive grant opportunities, then these relationships can be of benefit to you.
I've primarily worked with early-stage medtech/biotech companies helping forge strategies including early-stage funding (angels, VCs, grants), initial product development (prototyping to first-in-human studies), and IP (patents, licensing, tech transfer).
