Music as Book Covers - Unknown/Nth

This project is in progress! Inspired by the song Unknown / Nth by Hozier, this cover is a concept of what the cover of the story might look like if it was its own novel.  Inspired by the last verse: You called me Angel for the first time, my heart leapt from me. You smile now I can see its' pieces still stuck in your teeth. And what's left of it, I listen to it tick. Every tedious beat going unknown as any angel to me.

The Brief

Create an original cover concept for Hozier's song Unknown / Nth. Use and manipulate existing imagery depicting Lucifer in Dante's Inferno chewing on Judas Iscariot, Marcus Junius Brutus and Gaius Cassius Longinus. Replace the chewed body with a hand drawn image of a heart to represent the final verse in the song. Learn one new skill, complete the concept and mock-up within twelve hours.
Process Gif
The process took just under 6 hours, as shown above. I created a custom heart illustration in the style of the edited imagery, and overall cultivated a design that I think suits the music.
