Project Overview

This is a project that is currently in progress.
My colleague and I are supporting the organizing of participatory design workshops for members of the transgender community. The purpose of the workshops are to design for speculative and future AR trans technologies through the expertise and participation of local members of the trans community. Our team has chosen to take a visual ethnographic approach to our qualitative collection and analysis method by having participants explore and document their design process with collaborative "zine-making" or sketching and collage. The goal of this expressive form of design through making is to provide a holistic perspective of the trans experience, which will be pertinent to informing how we as designers understand trans technologies.

Roles

My main roles include:
Collaborating as a co-investigator to drive project timeline development and execution
Leading participant recruitment initiatives by employing inclusive strategies to recruit a diverse group of participants
Guiding in-person participatory design workshops using a visual ethnographic and qualitative approach focused on envisioning and conceptualizing future trans technologies

Recruitment

Flyer

I first designed a recruitment flyer for initial participant screening

Media Kit

I also created a media kit, which was widely shared to support recruiting participants for the design workshops. The media kit can be found here.
