A mock listicle of popular Parisian spots only the locals know about.

Ever wonder where the Parisians really hang out?

I'll give you a hint; nowhere near the Eiffel Tower. If you want to get away from the tourist traps of the city, here's a list of popular spots where local, young Parisians like to hang out:

You can't find a better rooftop terrace bar than Le Perchoir. Its panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, and Town Hall are truly breathtaking. Locals come for the cocktails but stay for the DJ set every night.

La Gare / Le Gore

Very hipstery jazz venue located on former railway brownfields. The owners purposefully left the water-damaged walls and shattered floor tiles to give off a squatter's atmosphere. The musical programming is superb and extremely varied, with free performances every night of the week.

Saint-Ouen’s Flea Market

Saint-Ouen’s Flea Market is the largest antique market in the world, with 2,500 stores, spreading across 15 markets. It's open every Saturday through Monday. You can find everything from vintage Hermès scarves to 17th-century furniture. It's a fantastic location to find unique Paris mementos.

Chez Bouboule Pigalle

Want to experience all the local customs in France? Playing pétanque, also known as boules, is a must. In Paris, Chez Bouboule Pigalle is a popular pétanque bar where you can play the game inside while also enjoying some fantastic cocktails.

Glace Bachir

Glace Bachir, a family-run business near the Center Pompidou and Les Halles-Châtelet, was the first ice cream shop in Paris to offer organic ice cream with a Lebanese twist. Serving classic tastes including kafe (coffee), choukoulata assouad (dark chocolate that is powerful), laouz (almond), and farawla (strawberry), as well as their renowned glace achta (creme de lait ice cream with a slightly more chewy texture than normal ice cream)
