Problem:
The Pricing and Packaging Program at Vimeo faced significant challenges, including executive misalignment on its priority within the company’s portfolio, unclear objectives, and dependencies among multiple teams across over 20 development teams. The lack of a concise understanding of the problem, solution, and delivery method exacerbated these challenges.
Scope:
To address these issues, the project focused on creating a clear program context with product leadership, implementing a twice-weekly scrum-of-scrums to coordinate dependencies, and conducting technical solution reviews. Key actions included negotiating with executive leadership to descope non-critical functionality, extending timelines for a more feasible Minimum Viable Product (MVP) rollout, and establishing a holistic approach to functional and automated testing. The project also involved leveraging existing infrastructure for an MVP release and conducting A/B testing in non-critical geographies​.
Results:
The program achieved a successful launch of the initial pricing and packaging solution a month ahead of schedule, with minimal defects. This led to increased user engagement and satisfaction, enhanced organizational alignment, and significantly contributed to the company's revenue growth by boosting revenue by 10.5% from $391M to $433M. The initiative also demonstrated effective leadership in complex cross-functional environments, setting a strong foundation for subsequent phases and showcasing the ability to manage high-stakes, complex initiatives​.
