Plainrate is a website template for mortgage brokers, loan agencies, credit unions and NBFCs, built around one idea: show every rate, fee and payment in plain numbers before anyone applies.
Plainrate on desktop and phone. The hero leads with a real estimate, not a slogan.
The problem
Lending sites hide rates behind "Get a quote" forms and push fees into the fine print. Borrowers ask five questions before they apply: what they'll pay each month, how much they can borrow, what paying extra would save, which offer costs less, and whether they're likely to qualify.
The brief I set myself: answer all five on the site with real loan math, and make it work in any market.
Each borrower question became a tool. The broker's question became the currency and EMI switches.
The idea
Plain numbers, a light and calm base, and one bold blue. The key phrase in each heading gets a "selected text" highlight. Host Grotesk for reading, DM Mono for figures.
17 colour styles and 23 text styles. One change re-themes the site, calculators included.
What I built
Loan Studio. Five calculators on one page, each a React code component. A sticky index tracks the tool you're on, and one switch changes the currency and wording for all of them.
The payment calculator with a yearly chart and a year-by-year schedule.
Borrowing power (36% or 43% debt-to-income), paying early, and two offers compared with fees and a break-even month.
A soft eligibility check. Four steps with a live estimate that updates on every answer. Nothing is saved or sent.
What you need, what you earn, credit and debts, then a likely rate range and tips.
Rates and loans in the open. A 12-week rate chart, a board that explains rate, APR and points, six loans side by side, and a CMS page for each loan.
On each loan page, the calculator starts at that loan's own amount and term from the CMS.
Outcome
Plainrate is live on the Framer Marketplace at $199, ready for brokers in the US, India, the UK and Europe.
