About Drishtee Foundation

Drishtee's mission is to empower rural areas through micro-enterprises, especially focusing on women. Drishtee identifies and trains potential entrepreneurs, providing them with kiosk-based platforms for various services such as Banking, Microfinance, and rural BPOs, as well as access to markets for products like mobile phones, and agricultural goods.

Deliverables:

UX Research, Heuristic Analysis, Contextual Study, Wireframing, Prototyping

Objective:

The primary goal was to develop a user-centered solution that empowered Miri Haat Application users by understanding and addressing their distinct requirements, enabling them to fully utilize the app's advantages.

About Miri Haat:

Making in Rural India (MIRI) is an online and offline platform enabling rural producers to be market-ready besides connecting them to rural and urban customers.
This is a model for creating a virtual consumer economy.
It technologically enables the supply chain management system to make it more efficient and scalable. However women from rural India have not actively using the application since its launch, hence the company has decided to investigate the problems.

Key Stakeholders:

Microenterprise group in a defined rural area where Drishtee is operating. These groups are named Vaibhavi and their day-to-day task includes:
Conducting meetings for updates from each member
Organizing workshops and training programs to upskill themselves.
Dhavak is generally a delivery boy who is responsible for picking up items from 2-3 locations.
They buy things from the market on a personal whim using their own money and later deliver them to Vaibhavi.
Packing items that need delivery.

User Study:

Vaibhavi: Women entrepreneurs involved in making handmade products, poultry farming, Stitching, etc. The persona can be shown as:
User Persona: Vaibhavi

Empathy Map:

Understanding user needs:

Insights gathered after field observations, contextual interviews, focus group study, and conducting Heuristic analysis of the current application are:
Dashboard with primary functions like Order
Let them know what other Vaibhavi's are learning
Step-by-step registration
Gaining confidence by certificate, progress bar
Khata for calculations
Detect location and Bank name by IFSC
Storyboarding Vaibhavi’s daily activities:

User Flow:

Wireframes:

To confirm the design before stepping forward with Hi-fidelity, wireframes designed as follows-

Style Guide:

The color palette for high-fidelity screens was determined with a focus on ensuring that it provides a comfortable viewing experience for elderly users without causing eye strain. Poppins-type fonts identify shapes that are geometric in style, clean look, and have good contrast which makes them easier to read.

Hi-Fidelity Design:

Onboarding Screens- The login process must be straightforward, simple, and presented in plain language to ensure ease of use for rural women.
Latest Order-Order is found to be the most crucial option for Vaibhavi, hence is given first priority on the home screen. Even if she clicks on reject by mistake there’ll be a pop-up to reconfirm so as to minimize error.
Calendar & Events-Calendar helps the group properly by reminding them of meets & events. Users can view the calendar weekly, monthly, and yearly to ease calculations.
Vaibhavi Near You-Vaibhavi wants to know what is happening in the nearby area, so as to know their current status and to attend any upcoming training programs.
Attendance and team attendance- are important for the team to function efficiently from time to time. It is designed to help them keep track of members coming on a daily basis.
Adding Item for Sell-In case Vaibhavi wants to sell a product, there’s an in-app option with an image & other details add options as shown.
Khata for Sales-Khata is provided for Vaibhavi to calculate amounts of transaction and sales info easily within the application. Profit and loss play an important role in maintaining the enthusiasm among Vaibhavi.

Learnings through the Project:

The internship provided us with a platform to bridge the gap between traditional knowledge and modern technology.
We traveled to 10+ villages, engaging in over 50 interviews with inspiring rural women, amplifying their voices and ensuring their insights shaped the heart of our design solutions.
We strive to create user-centric solutions that enable every individual, irrespective of their background, to access opportunities and a better quality of life.

Thank you!
