IZANDLA Grid – Smart Municipal Fault Detection Platform
I developed IZANDLA Grid after witnessing the challenges municipalities face during electricity outages. In many African cities, technicians can spend hours—or even days—trying to locate a single electrical fault. This delays power restoration, increases operational costs, and frustrates communities.
IZANDLA Grid was designed to transform that process. The platform helps municipalities detect, track, assign, and resolve electrical faults in minutes instead of hours. It provides technicians with the exact fault location, asset information, repair history, safety procedures, and navigation tools, allowing them to arrive prepared instead of searching blindly. The platform also supports offline operation, ensuring field teams can continue working even in areas with poor network coverage.
The system includes a technician mobile application, supervisor dashboard, live grid intelligence map, predictive analytics, AI-assisted operations, QR code asset management, automated reporting, and performance monitoring. It was built as a working MVP to demonstrate how digital technology can modernize municipal infrastructure across Africa.
