Cover image for My friend runs a hair
My friend runs a hair salon from home. Between clients she's answering DMs, guessing prices, texting people she's running late and chasing regulars who forgot to rebook. She just wants to do hair. So I built Rootline - the front desk that runs itself. For her clients: - Endless DM back-and-forth → Book with two photos, no messages needed - Guessing the price → See the real time and price up front - Times that don't suit → Share your calendar and only see times that work for both For the stylist: - A "quick highlight" that's really box dye → Rootline uses AI to analyze the hair photos and books a colour correction at the right length - Cancellations → The slot is texted to the next regular who's due. - Running late → One tap shifts the afternoon and texts only who it affects - Regulars who drift → A rebook text before their roots show. Try it: → As a client: https://rootline-booking.lovable.app/book/root-and-bloom (https://rootline-booking.lovable.app/book/root-and-bloom)→ As the hair stylist: https://rootline-booking.lovable.app/studio (https://rootline-booking.lovable.app/studio)→ Marketing site: https://rootline-booking.lovable.app/ (https://rootline-booking.lovable.app/)→ Loom walkthrough: https://www.loom.com/share/5d0edf85b6674fe7b22c0a8d783492d7 The whole product is built in Lovable: the app, the database, the server logic and the photo reading. I first tried Lovable about a year ago, and the leap since then is huge. This time it understood exactly what I was going for and delivered, prompt after prompt. 🙌 Also shared on X here: https://x.com/michellesjames/status/2105887756522242084

What if your everyday texts were actually a love story? I built Between Us (https://love-between-us.replit.app/), where you upload your WhatsApp chat export and it transforms your raw message history into a beautiful, shareable one-pager celebrating your relationship. The result is a unique URL you can send to your person. A love letter written by your own conversations. Huge shoutout to Wispr Flow - It just works out of the box, super intuitive, strips out all the ums and ahs, and reformats everything cleanly. It lets you think out loud without friction. This is staying in my daily workflow well beyond this hackathon. The stack: Replit, Figma, OpenAI's API and Gemini for image gen. Every year we buy gifts we know are bad. We smile. They lie. The cycle continues. I built The Anti-Gift Guide (https://anti-gift-guide.replit.app/) to end this. You answer a few uncomfortable questions about the person you’re shopping for, get assigned a toxic persona, and receive a list of things you absolutely should not buy them...if you want to remain friends. Built with: - @Replit for the app - @Suno for mildly annoying festive audio - @Tolstoy for the product image template Use at your own risk 👉 https://anti-gift-guide.replit.app/ (Speakers on for extra magic) Side note: Replit handled the entire build without complaint, which is more than I can say for most tools. And Suno’s v5 model is alarmingly good for the speed it produces results.

Most AI tools are sycophants. They tell you everything looks great, even when it doesn't. So I built Red Flag Resume - a tool that gives you the brutally honest feedback recruiters won't. No sugarcoating. Just the red flags and real fixes. First time using YouWare and as a UX designer, I was impressed. The designs came out polished and thoughtful, not the usual AI output.
