The GWRPR Framework: My Retention-First YouTube Script Process Overview Every successful YouTube script follows a structure that gives viewers a reason to keep watching Over time, I developed the GWRPR Framework, a practical process I use to write and improve long-form YouTube scripts with audience retention in mind. Rather than relying on intuition, this framework helps me intentionally design each stage of the viewer's journey—from the opening hook to the final call to action. The Framework G — Grab Attention. Open with a high-stakes hook that creates immediate curiosity and gives viewers a compelling reason not to click away. W — Warm the Viewer. Build context and emotional investment so viewers understand why the topic matters to them. R — Rehook. Introduce new questions, surprises, or story developments throughout the video to renew attention before interest fades. P — Provide Value. Deliver clear insights, stories, or practical lessons that reward viewers for continuing to watch. R — Redirect. End with a purposeful call to action that naturally guides viewers toward the next step, whether that's another video, a subscription, or a specific action. Where I've Used It This framework has been applied in: YouTube script rewrites Retention audits Original documentary scripts Educational storytelling projects

Original YouTube Documentary Script: AI Is Replacing Jobs—Now What? Writing a High-Retention Educational Script From Scratch For this project, I wrote a complete long-form YouTube documentary script exploring how artificial intelligence is reshaping the job market and what professionals can do to stay ahead. Rather than creating a traditional educational script, my goal was to tell a story that balanced urgency, emotion, and practical value. Every section was intentionally structured to keep viewers engaged while making a complex topic easy to understand. I built the script around a retention-first storytelling structure. My Approach Instead of jumping straight into facts, I opened with a high-stakes hook designed to create immediate curiosity and establish why the viewer should keep watching. From there, I layered the script with strategic rehooks, emotional storytelling, real-world case studies, and practical takeaways to maintain momentum from beginning to end. What I Delivered 1. Original long-form YouTube script 2. High-impact cold open 3. Multiple retention rehooks 4. Documentary-style storytelling 5. Real-world examples and supporting research 6. Smooth chapter transitions 7. Actionable educational content 8. Strong ending with a clear call to action and next-video bridge Result The final script was designed to maximize viewer retention while educating the audience on a rapidly changing topic. It combines storytelling, psychology, and clear structure to create a viewing experience that keeps people engaged until the final call to action. This project reflects my approach to YouTube scripting: every line should either increase curiosity, build emotional investment, or deliver meaningful value.

YouTube Retention Audit: Finding Why Viewers Don't Convert Diagnosing The Hidden Problems Behind A YouTube Video For this project, I analyzed Simpletivity's YouTube video "The Best CRM for Small Business" and created a detailed retention-focused audit. The goal was not just to point out problems, but to identify the moments where the script was losing viewer attention, trust, and conversion potential — then provide practical fixes. I analyzed the video through three key areas • Viewer retention • Story structure • Conversion psychology Problems I Identified: 1. Weak Viewer-Centered Hook The opening focused more on the creator's journey instead of immediately addressing the viewer's problem My recommendation: Reframe the opening around the audience's pain, creating an immediate reason for the viewer to stay 2. Lack of Trust Through Transparency The video included a sponsored product recommendation without enough context, which could create skepticism. My recommendation: Build trust earlier through clear disclosure and authentic positioning. 3. Features Without Emotional Stakes The product section focused heavily on features but did not connect those features to real business problems. My recommendation: Move from "what the tool does" to "what problem the tool solves." 4. Weak Storytelling and Relatability Some sections explained concepts without enough specific examples or real-life scenarios. My recommendation: Add relatable moments and specific struggles viewers recognize. 5. No Strong Reason To Continue Watching The ending provided value but lacked anticipation for what viewers should watch next. My recommendation: Create a stronger close with a future promise that encourages continued engagement. My Process: I reviewed the video structure, opening hook, pacing, storytelling flow, viewer psychology, and conversion opportunities. Then I created actionable recommendations showing: • What was not working • Why it affected retention • How to improve it Result: This audit transformed a general video critique into a strategic improvement plan focused on helping creators increase viewer trust, engagement, and conversion. My approach is simple: Find where attention is lost → Understand why → Create a strategy to fix it. See the full work here https://gamma.app/docs/YouTube-Script-Audit-Simpletivity-edi5vmvenkb847s

YouTube Script Rewrite & Retention Optimization Transforming a Business Story Into a More Engaging Viewer Experience For this project, I analyzed and rewrote a YouTube script for a video titled "How I Scaled to $1M/Month." The original script had a strong foundation: real experience, valuable lessons, and a compelling business story. However, I identified opportunities to improve how the information was delivered so viewers would have stronger reasons to continue watching. I applied my GWRPR Framework (Grab, Warm Up, Rehook, Plan, Redirect) — a retention-focused approach designed to strengthen viewer attention throughout the video. I broke down longer sentences and improved the rhythm of the script to make key moments feel more impactful and easier to follow. 1. Increased Curiosity I added open loops and stronger transitions that encourage viewers to stay for the next reveal. 2. Mid-Video Rehook I introduced a retention reset point to regain viewer attention before the second half of the video 3. Clearer Value Delivery I introduced a retention reset point to regain viewer attention before the second half of the video. My Process: 1. Analyzed the original script for retention weaknesses. 2. Identified moments where viewer attention could drop. 3. Rebuilt sections using storytelling psychology and audience retention principles. 4. Explained the reasoning behind every major change Result: The rewritten version maintained the creator's original ideas while making the script more engaging, structured, and optimized for viewer retention. This project showcases my ability to go beyond writing — I help creators understand why viewers stay, why they leave, and how to structure content that holds attention.
