Art directors and design directors do not like personal projects in portfolios—at least in my experience. However, personal projects have helped me grow more as a designer than any other type of project. Why? They allowed me to experiment: no deadlines, no limitations—just the freedom to work with the software that made me the designer I am today. Blender was always my therapy, as it placed no limits on my creativity or how I approached the development of visual language systems. It allowed me to experiment with shapes, materials, forms, light, atmosphere, structure—you name it. That inspired me to create a skincare brand. Again, why? The modeling process was easy. It didn't require me to learn modeling from the beginning; simple shapes were enough. The hard part was making the bottles look realistic. This is where I learned how transparency and different materials react to light passing through them, how thickness affects light, how edge bevels reflect light differently, and how combining materials can bring a product to life as a single cohesive unit. Rubber can make a product feel playful, while plastic can make it feel cheap. Ecological materials can make it feel healthy and organic. This is all part of the process when designing a product from scratch. This is how this personal project was made: through a careful study of branding and 3D materials. Cover image for I was given two days
I was given two days to find a completely new direction for the Prop Firm Expo identity. At that point, I only had two fixed elements: a logo and a colour chosen by our stakeholders. The challenge wasn’t simply to make the event look good. It needed to feel connected to our existing brands while still having an identity of its own—one that could scale as the event moved from city to city. Around the same time, I kept seeing designers on X building custom tools with Claude Code. So I decided to give it a try. I took the risk of learning Claude Code and completely changed the way I approached the identity. Instead of designing every background, pattern, and motion individually, I wanted to build a system that could consistently generate them. That led me to create a custom gradient tool (https://coolshadez.xyz/gradient-shader.html). That system became the foundation of the Prop Firm Expo identity. https://www.lazarstanisic.com/projects/prop-firm-expo

I can't tell much as this is a redesign of an existing can. I have streamed this live on tik tok and within 3 working days I have made a few iterations.

Sincerely wanting to be a
Hello! Sincerely wanting to be a part of a design community for a while now, and I found Contra. I work in-house on a design team in marketing. However, Here, I will be posting my creative passion projects! Connect with designers who share the same passion in making every project better than the last. Designing since 18, I am now 32, and in that period, learning Blender, Adobe, and now Claude has helped me enjoy my work even more than usual! This is a fictional refreshment brand, and the images you see are mostly Pinterest-driven lifestyle photoshoots passed through image generation software. The packaging was used to teach the model how to apply materials and design, the images were mainly pinterest inspos some slightly altered to fit the colors of the cans. You can check the full case study here https://www.lazarstanisic.com/projects/cochaa-blaast Looking forward to connecting!
