Travel & Tourism Website with Custom CMS for a Bhutan Tour Operator
Overview
Kiyul Odyssey is a Bhutan-based tour operator offering curated trips across the country, from cultural festivals to high-altitude treks. They came to me pre-launch with a clear goal: a website that does justice to the experience of travelling in Bhutan and turns interest into real booking enquiries.
The Brief
Build a site from scratch that positions Kiyul Odyssey as a trusted, premium operator rather than a generic tour-listing page, and that the team can keep updated themselves without a developer for every change.
Timeline
2 weeks from kickoff to handover.
The Problem to Solve:
- Pre-launch, with no existing site or content structure
- Several content types that needed to stay organized and easy to expand season after season
-Had to feel premium and trustworthy to international travelers researching an unfamiliar destination
-The team needed full control of updates, without touching code
What I Built:
- A full custom website: home, tours, destinations, festivals and travel guides
- A structured content system so the team can publish new trips, destinations and guides on their own
-On-page SEO across every page, built around how travelers actually search for Bhutan trips
- Enquiry forms routed straight to their inbox so no lead is missed
- A fast, secure setup ready for launch
The Craft
The heart of the build is the content system. Rather than hard-coding every trip, I set up dedicated, linked sections for tours, destinations, festivals and travel guides. Add a new festival and it appears in the right places across the site automatically, correctly organised and ready to be found in search. The site grows with the business instead of needing a rebuild every season.
The Results:
- Lighthouse scores: Performance 96, Accessibility 96, Best Practices 100, SEO 100
- SEO configured across every page and content type, with a clean sitemap submitted for indexing
-Secure setup with protected login and a CDN for speed
The result is a polished, easy-to-manage website that captures the feel of travelling in Bhutan and gives every visitor a clear path to get in touch.

I designed and built the full website for Dragon Rider Travels, a premium Bhutan tour operator. The core of the build is the content architecture: every tour is filed once and surfaces across four browse paths, by attraction, region, travel style and travel guide, so travelers find their trip by interest and the team expands the site without a developer. Add WhatsApp and call enquiry buttons, real guest reviews and SEO across every page, and the result is a content-rich site that matches the premium trips they sell.
