GHOST — The Aura Is The Art
A platform for university students who don't feel seen.
The Problem
57% of university students feel lonely on campus. That is not a niche statistic — that is the majority of every lecture hall, every corridor, every campus event. And yet every existing solution tells them the same thing: change. Join clubs. Network. Put yourself out there. Be more visible.
Ghost was built on a different belief entirely. The problem was never that these students were invisible. The problem was that nothing was built for them.
The Insight
Through primary validation research with university students across Nigeria — and supported by data from studies spanning 64,988 students across 120+ universities globally — one pattern emerged consistently: students do not lack the desire to connect. They lack a space that meets them as they are. Existing platforms like Discord, GroupMe, and LinkedIn are communication tools. They have no identity layer, no growth system, no mechanism that pushes students from passive scrolling into genuine human interaction.
Ghost fills that gap.
The Product
Ghost is a mobile-first platform that operates in three stages:
Stage 1 — Know Yourself
The onboarding experience is not a form or a personality quiz. It is a conversation. The platform reads how the user engages — the questions they ask, the way they respond, the things they hesitate on — and builds a personalised Ghost profile that reflects who they actually are. Not an MBTI label. Not a generic archetype. A Ghost-native identity built from their own behaviour.
Stage 2 — Go Into The World
The missions dashboard surfaces real-world challenges tailored to the student's Ghost profile and campus location. Entry-level missions like The 3-Minute Rule — introduce yourself to one person before your next lecture starts — earn 50 XP. Ghost-tier missions like Silent Observer — attend a campus event you have never been to, don't force conversation, just be present — earn 80 XP. The platform verifies completion not through surveillance but through depth of reflection. Only someone who truly showed up can answer the questions asked after each mission.
Stage 3 — Find Your People
A leaderboard surfaces compatible Ghosts at similar levels. A pairing system connects students with accountability partners whose profiles complement their own. And an exclusive Ghost community tier — earned through mission completion, not just payment — creates the space students have always wanted: one that makes them feel seen without asking them to perform.

Ghost is not a social network. It is not a self-help app. It is not a networking tool.
It is a growth system built on one idea: you do not need to change who you are to build connections that last. You need to understand who you are first. Everything else follows.
Everyone wants to be seen. You became a Ghost instead. That's not a weakness — that's your edge.
What Was Built
This submission is a functional prototype built entirely within Figma's suite of tools:
Figma Design — Full design system including color tokens, typography scale, component library, and dark-first visual language across all screens.
Figma Make — Interactive prototype bringing the Ghost hook screen, onboarding flow, and missions dashboard to life as a functional navigable experience.
Figma Design Agent — Used throughout to accelerate component generation, maintain design consistency, and explore layout variations at speed.
The prototype demonstrates the full core user journey: a student arrives feeling invisible, encounters the Ghost identity, moves through onboarding, and lands on a personalised missions dashboard ready to take their first real-world challenge.
Design System Highlights
Primary color: #7C3AED — deep violet, premium and intentional
Accent: #06B6D4 — electric cyan for live states and progress
Background: #0A0A0A — pure dark, Ghost lives in the shadows
Typography: Inter — clean, modern, readable at every scale
Motion principle: Minimal and purposeful. Nothing moves without reason.
UI pattern references: Conversational onboarding inspired by leading AI products, progressive disclosure, gesture-first navigation, glass morphism card surfaces.
The Audience
220-250 million university students globally. 57% of them lonely. All of them deserving something built specifically for who they are — not who the world wants them to be.
Ghost starts on campus. It does not end there.
