Kayla Peterson's Work | ContraWork by Kayla PetersonKayla Peterson
Story-driven video editor.
I created this under-five-minute mini-documentary to explore the cultural significance of the American shopping mall and how its role in our lives has evolved over time. Using a mix of stock footage, archival material, newspaper articles, editorial graphics, and selected film excerpts, I shaped disparate sources into a cohesive, story-driven narrative. The project showcases my approach to documentary editing, narrative pacing, and research-based visual storytelling. Ladies Who Launch | Video Production & Short-Form Editing
I filmed and edited four social videos for Ladies Who Launch, transforming event footage and panel discussions into distinct pieces of short-form content. The deliverables included an event-experience recap, two speaker-led think pieces exploring business impact and funding, and a playful “What’s Inside the Goodie Bag?” video.
I also organized 186 video assets in one evening, creating an organized foundation for content production. Within a week, I delivered all four finished videos, balancing event storytelling, panel-driven narratives, and lighter social content. Alori | UGC Video Production & Editing
I filmed and edited a UGC video for Alori featuring Not Today, Estrogen, the brand’s supplement formulated to support estrogen metabolism and mood balance.
From filming to the final edit, I created a product-focused video designed to introduce the supplement in an approachable, relatable way. This project showcases my ability to take a branded content concept from production through post-production, combining on-camera delivery, product visuals, and editing to create social-ready content. Story-Driven Video Editing | Creative Introduction
A short introduction to my approach to video editing: finding the story hidden in hours of footage, voice notes, and in-between moments. Using carefully selected stock footage, intentional sequencing, voiceover, music, and sound design, I created a cohesive narrative that reflects how I approach every edit.
My background in copywriting and marketing informs my editorial process, helping me identify the central idea, build a compelling sequence, and make every shot serve a purpose.
