After managing literary journals in my MFA program at Naropa University, I founded my own online publication about indie music and culture as a fun side project when I was working in marketing and advertising in Chicago. I called it Houseshow (https://medium.com/houseshow-magazine), inspired by the experiences I was having seeing some truly excellent rock bands play in living rooms and dive bars around the city. My piece on Father John Misty, aka Josh Tillman, and his album "God's Favorite Customer" is the most-read piece from my magazine.

In a digital-first era, a good print piece still stands out, connects with audiences – and wins industry awards. Design director Ianka de la Rosa and I created a 50+ page Viewbook to immerse prospective students in NEC’s paths of study, with full spreads aligned with our out-of-home light pole banner campaign that encouraged students to “be” the best they can be in their artistry and studies. Content included a BuzzFeed listicle-style page of “Top Reasons to Study at NEC,” testimonials from students, sample schedules tailored to each path of study, application deadlines, and information on relevant faculty. We also created outreach postcards with QR codes leading to the digital version to send prospective students. We were honored that higher education industry leaders CASE (Council for Support and Advancement of Education) awarded the Viewbook suite with a 2023 Best of CASE Award (District 1) for our work on behalf of NEC.

At the New England Conservatory of Music, design director Ianka de la Rosa and I (in my role as content strategy manager and copywriter) conceptualized this light pole banner campaign to highlight the NEC community as Boston recovered from the pandemic. With photography highlighting various programs of study, the campaign invited students and faculty to be themselves as they advance their artistry at NEC. This campaign concept also formed the basis of the creative content strategy in the Enrollment Viewbook.
