Pilah is an AI-powered waste sorting assistant built to solve one of Indonesia’s most visible daily problems: confusion around waste disposal. Even though the country generates massive amounts of waste every day, many people still struggle to sort it correctly. Pilah helps bridge that gap by making recycling easier, faster, and more intuitive for everyone.
With just a camera, users can point at any piece of trash and let AI do the thinking. Pilah identifies the item, gives clear disposal instructions, and logs the user’s positive impact instantly. Beyond sorting, it also helps users understand why their actions matter through an Impact tab that tracks weekly progress and compares personal contribution to the national scale.
To make the experience more engaging, Pilah turns waste sorting into a journey. Users can earn badges, build streaks, and download custom posters to share with friends and encourage more people to join the movement. It’s not just a scanner — it’s also a learning hub for sustainable living, with practical guides like home composting and other everyday eco-friendly habits.
Built entirely with Figma Make and connected to a live Supabase backend, Pilah is my way of using design and technology to create something purposeful, useful, and socially relevant. It reflects my belief that small actions can create real impact when the experience is simple, motivating, and accessible.
