At Ballet Tucson, their dancing reflects not only the hard work they've put in on ballet technique, but also the culture and community around them. This article was written to highlight the premier of a piece entitled "Barrio Viejo," serving as an ode to Lalo Guerrero, a Tucson native. I dove into the history of Barrio Viejo and what it means to the Tucson community. After speaking with his son, Dan Guerrero, and the creators of this show, I personally felt even closer to the artistic community of Tucson.
