Every project had a budget, a timeline, a risk rating, and still blew past all three. I traced the pattern back to planning assumptions that didn't hold up under real execution, plus uneven productivity and regulatory bottlenecks that showed up early enough to flag before a project went over.

1,500 transactions, £1.9M processed, and a fraud problem hiding in plain sight. 20% of transactions were flagged fraudulent, but they accounted for 62.5% of transaction value, meaning the risk wasn't spread evenly, it was concentrated in a handful of customer relationships. I also found the bank's own risk categories were wrong: some "low risk" merchant types had fraud rates matching their highest-risk category.

A law firm's numbers looked healthy at 56.8% profit margin, until I dug into who was actually doing the work. Partners were carrying nearly 3x the workload of Associates, not because they worked harder, but because of how cases were assigned. I also found €773M sitting uncollected and seven of the firm's ten highest-revenue clients flying under the radar because they weren't flagged as strategic. Built in Power BI across 15,000 cases, 200 lawyers, and 800 clients.
