This independent psychology writing sample explores anxiety in relation to avoidance and withdrawal through a context-sensitive lens. It examines when anxiety may serve a protective function, when avoidance or withdrawal may become restrictive, and why exposure may not be appropriate in every anxiety-inducing situation. The piece also considers how boundaries in relationships and emotional regulation can shape responses to anxiety and their longer-term effects.

I wrote this research-based psychology sample based on selected themes from my master’s thesis in Clinical Psychology for Individuals, Families and Organizations at the University of Bergamo. It explores autistic well-being through a neurodiversity-informed perspective, with a focus on acceptance, autonomy, environmental fit, and quality of life.
