WhatAreWeWearing: Social Shopping Meets AI Styling WhatAreWeWearing is a social fashion platform designed around a question everyone has asked before an event: “What are we wearing?” I helped bring the concept to life as a polished mobile experience where discovering an outfit, getting personalized recommendations, and planning what to wear becomes collaborative instead of overwhelming. At the center of the experience is Poppy, an AI-powered personal stylist that helps users discover looks based on the occasion, aesthetic, size, budget, and other preferences. Rather than endlessly scrolling through products, users can describe what they need and receive relevant outfit inspiration from brands available throughout the platform. The app goes beyond traditional fashion discovery by making shopping genuinely social. Users can create events, build moodboards and look books, save their favorite pieces, invite friends, share recommendations, and coordinate outfits together. Integrated brand discovery also makes it easy to move from inspiration to shopping without leaving the experience. The result is a fashion platform that combines AI-assisted styling, social planning, event coordination, and e-commerce discovery into one cohesive mobile product, turning outfit planning into something users can actually enjoy with their friends. BabySOS: Childcare On Demand BabySOS was built to solve one of the most stressful problems parents face: finding reliable childcare exactly when they need it. I developed a complete on-demand childcare marketplace that connects parents with vetted caregivers for both planned bookings and last-minute SOS requests. The platform supports two distinct experiences within one ecosystem. Parents can create their family profile, search for caregivers, review experience and qualifications, communicate directly, manage bookings, and request immediate childcare through the SOS system. Caregivers can build professional profiles, manage their availability and bookings, communicate with families, and track earnings and payouts from a dedicated dashboard. A major focus of the project was making a fairly complex marketplace feel incredibly simple on mobile. The interface was designed around trust, speed, and accessibility, with clear booking flows, caregiver profiles, real-time communication, location-aware discovery, payments, and an emergency-style childcare request experience that allows parents to find available help quickly. The result is a polished iOS platform that brings discovery, booking, communication, payments, caregiver management, and on-demand childcare into one cohesive product. Unreal Engine UI Navigation Design Study

Diegetic Debris Menu Rethinking the Start Menu A Start Menu is one of the most conventional pieces of game UI. It works, it's familiar, and it's usually designed to get out of the player's way. For this UI Forge study, I wanted to challenge that assumption. Unreal Engine has some incredibly powerful features that are usually associated with gameplay, environments, VFX, or cinematics. Chaos Destruction is one of them. Destruction is visually exciting and, for some reason, watching things break apart is incredibly satisfying. So I started with a simple question: What happens if I take one of Unreal's coolest features and push it outside of its usual context, into UI? That led to the Diegetic Debris Menu. Instead of displaying menu text as a conventional overlay, the menu exists physically in the game world. Each option is represented by a pile of fractured debris. When selected, the debris rebuilds into a readable word. Navigate away and it collapses back into debris. The goal wasn't simply to make a menu look different. I wanted to create a different experience from interacting with a familiar piece of UI.

This project recreates a modern metaball page indicator for Unreal Engine, where the active dot smoothly blends and separates as it moves between pages. It's a simple but elegant effect that works great for carousels, onboarding screens, and menus. Features - Supports 1–10 pages - Adjustable dot size - Adjustable spacing between dots - Smooth metaball animation - Built entirely with Blueprints and a UI Material Included - Unreal Engine 5.4 project - UI Material - Widget Blueprint with the complete functionality - Example widget ready to explore and customize Files available in Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/cw/DaniMarti). If there's an interface from a game, app, or website you'd like to see recreated in Unreal Engine, leave a suggestion in the comments!

Days Gone Navigation Study This study explores the menu navigation from Days Gone, not as a one-to-one recreation, but as a design and engineering study. The objective was to understand both the visual language and the technical implementation behind the interface, then rebuild it inside Unreal Engine using original assets, modular Blueprints, and reusable systems. Rather than reproducing the original assets, every visual element was recreated using original artwork and freely available resources while preserving the overall atmosphere, composition, and motion language.

Nova64 -> Fantasy Console for RetroArch, Godot, and the Web

🕹️ What happens when a software engineer misses the strange, experimental magic of the Nintendo 64 and original PlayStation era? Apparently, he builds an entirely new game console. Meet Nova64: a JavaScript-powered 3D fantasy console inspired by chunky polygons, mysterious cartridges, CRT glow, demoscene creativity, and the wonderfully weird software of the late ’90s. I designed and engineered Nova64 as an open platform where developers can create a game cartridge in JavaScript and launch it instantly—no actual plastic cartridge blowing required. 😄 Underneath the playful exterior is some seriously fun engineering: 🎮 A shared game-development API across Three.js, Babylon.js, and Godot 🧠 JavaScript running natively through an embedded QuickJS engine 🕹️ A custom RetroArch core for playing Nova64 cartridges alongside classic systems 🛠️ A browser-based studio with Monaco, hot reloading, and developer tools 🌎 3D graphics, physics, particles, shaders, audio, controllers, voxel worlds, and WebXR 💾 More than 70 playable demos and experimental cartridges 🖥️ A Mac OS 9-inspired desktop—because modern software could use more personality Nova64 isn’t an N64 emulator, and it isn’t pretending to be a historical machine. It’s a new creative platform built around a question I couldn’t resist exploring: What if the next fantasy console used JavaScript cartridges? This project brings together nearly everything I love building: games, graphics, creative tooling, native integration, web technology, nostalgic interfaces, and slightly unreasonable ideas that somehow become real products. I’m not selling Nova64 as a Contra service. I’m sharing it because it demonstrates what’s possible when creative direction and deep engineering live in the same project. If your idea sounds ambitious, interactive, technically unusual—or just a little bit weird—I’d probably love to hear about it. 🚀 Explore Nova64: https://nova64.io (https://nova64.io)View my services: https://contra.com/brendon_smith_axke294z/services?r=brendon_smith_axke294z

I didn’t start my indie studio to chase hype. I started it because the system kept failing me—and I refused to quit. I’m a self-taught game dev, 3D modeler, tech, and generative AI specialist. I’ve helped others ship projects, but when I looked for teams this year, I keep getting silence and broken promises. So I’m building my own games with modular, finishable workflows. Even with a family to support, I don’t quit—I have to make it work. My Barko character in Unreal Engine’s shader complexity view is green—optimized. I fix problems, not just talk. If you’re hiring or building something that needs skill, heart, and finishability—reach out. If you’re tired of noise and want to build something honest, let’s talk. #OpenToWork #IndieDev #GameDev #3DModeling #GenerativeAI #Finishability #SurvivalSmart #SelfTaught
