Freelance Book Cover Designer for Authors

I recently worked on this book cover for 21 Days of Prayer, Restoration, and Recovery, a faith-based book focused on healing, recovery, and finding strength through prayer. For the design, I wanted the cover to feel emotional and meaningful while still having a clean, professional presence. The open book, warm light, and deep tones were used to support the themes of faith, hope, and transformation, while the typography keeps the title strong and easy to recognize. As a book cover designer and graphic designer, I enjoy taking the message behind a book and turning it into a visual that feels connected to the story and the reader. I also work on book formatting and creating print-ready layouts for publishing. Always happy to work on projects where design has a story to tell.

The cover of any horror or gothic novel is its first impression, and that's exactly what makes a reader stop and look twice on the shelf. For this project, I took on that exact challenge: designing a cover that honors the depth of the genre while still holding up to modern publishing standards. The core concept started with a Victorian-era haunted mansion, wrapped in fog and a cold blue-grey palette to create a heavy, mysterious atmosphere. From there, I added a dramatic red blood-drip element that runs like a visual thread from the top of the cover all the way to the bottom. It wasn't just decorative, it directly represents the novel's central themes of blood, power, and sacrifice. The front cover, spine, and back cover were all designed as one unified composition, with the typography's weight and placement carefully balanced so the title feels bold yet elegant. The synopsis layout on the back cover was also kept clean and readable, giving it that polished finish you'd expect on a real bookstore shelf. My approach has always been the same: just looking good isn't enough, a cover needs to carry the emotional weight of the story. That's why every element, whether it's the color palette or a small visual detail like the blood-drip, is added with a clear purpose in mind. If you're looking for a cover that genuinely grabs a reader's attention, for a book, series, or manuscript, whether it's horror, fantasy, or literary fiction, let me know. I handle the entire process, from concept to the final print-ready file.

A strong business book cover should communicate confidence before a single page is read. For this project, I focused on a bold, minimal design that instantly grabs attention while keeping the message clear and professional. Every typography choice, contrast, and layout decision was made to reflect the book's purpose and appeal to its target audience. I enjoy creating book covers that are designed around the story, audience, and publishing goals—not just visual trends. Whether it's business, self-help, fiction, or horror, my goal is always to deliver a cover that looks professional, stands out in online marketplaces, and gives authors a design they can publish with confidence.

Every romance story deserves a cover that captures the emotion before the first page is even opened. For this design, I focused on creating a warm, elegant, and emotionally driven cover that reflects the connection between the characters while maintaining a clean, professional look for both print and digital platforms. I enjoy designing book covers that are tailored to each story instead of relying on generic templates. Whether it's romance, thriller, horror, or non-fiction, my goal is always to create a cover that feels unique, visually engaging, and aligned with the author's vision.

No early access, no insider source, no leak. Just prompting. Here's what nobody tells you about AI images — The prompt was never the hard part. Lighting angles, lens compression, grain, color grading — that's what actually separates "AI slop" from something that looks like a real Rockstar trailer. Took hours of failed attempts before it clicked. Comment "GTA" and I'll send you the exact prompt behind this set. — Shayan Imran

A client rejected 3 of my poster concepts. Same layout. Same photo. Same colors. I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Until I changed one thing. The font. Nothing else. Just the font. Suddenly the exact same design looked "expensive" to him. That's when it hit me — Nobody ever says "I love your typography." But everyone feels it the second it's wrong. So I started collecting fonts that actually carry weight. The kind that look cinematic before anyone even reads the words. 5 of them. Free. Sitting in my personal library right now. Save this post. Next time a client says "something feels off" and can't tell you why — check the font before anything else. — Shayan Imran

A contemporary Eastern-inspired printed collection designed for a client, developed as a Shamooz silk print collection featuring a refined mix of floral, tropical, paisley, and botanical motifs. The collection explores soft, feminine palettes with statement borders and digitally printed dupattas, developed across three-piece shirt, trouser, and dupatta sets, alongside a distinctive kaftan-style shirt and trouser ensemble. The prints balance traditional South Asian elements with a fresh, modern aesthetic.

Designed a custom print collection from scratch for a contemporary Eastern wear outfit featuring an A-line short kurta, skinny shalwar, and statement dupatta. Inspired by delicate florals and leafy motifs, the design was created for a festive Eid collection with a modern yet elegant aesthetic. I developed original artwork and engineered print placements for every garment panel, delivering a production-ready design that balanced visual harmony, wearability, and a premium fashion appeal.
