I created what turned out to be a very late entry into last month's "Runway — Pitch Contest for Shows That Don't Exist Yet". I wasn't selected, but that's not really what stayed with me. The process reminded me how important it is to keep making things, even when the odds aren't in your favour, the deadline is tight, or the outcome is uncertain. Sometimes the real win is showing up, following the idea, and putting something into the world that didn't exist before. This project became a small reminder that creative growth rarely happens by waiting for permission. It happens by chasing the vision anyway. Here's my submission: #TheFifthFrequency Curious to hear what resonates with you. 📻

The Penguin Hiding Behind One Name A self-produced 37-second science explainer for VarysDrogo, using original schematic animation to introduce a research proposal that separates gentoo penguins into four species. Original geometric penguin illustrations, a hand-drawn approximate orientation map, a generic illustrated museum specimen and timed English captions turn the research into a short visual story. The grouping is an explanatory schematic, not a reproduced scientific figure. AI-generated generic narration is disclosed. No paper figures, stock footage, museum photographs or third-party music are used. Research source: Noll et al. (2026), Communications Biology, https://doi.org/10.1038/s42003-026-10081-7 The video presents a proposed taxonomic revision; it does not claim universal adoption. Own-channel editorial work, not a paid-client project or a claim of audience or revenue results. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/EfFV1Zt-5Sk

The Game Bug That Escaped the Boss Fight A self-produced 45-second gaming-history explainer for VarysDrogo. Original geometric animation turns the 2005 Corrupted Blood incident into a miniature-map sequence: a pet carries an effect out of a boss encounter, then player choices change the story. Original script, animation and sound effects; generic AI narration and timed English captions. No game footage, logos, character models or copied research figures are used. This is an illustrated reconstruction, not archival gameplay. The research angle preserves the distinction between choices in a game and real-world behavior. Sources: Lofgren and Fefferman (2007), https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17714675/ ; Balicer (2007), https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17301707/ Own-channel editorial work, not a paid-client project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/mgPYBQYtls0

Which Quote Needs Attention Next? A 30-second, self-produced software explainer for Prompt2Profit. Native Google Sheets export crops, readable highlights and timed captions explain a manual quote-review workflow with fictional enquiries and a fixed 2 October 2026 review date. The example demonstrates overdue and due-date counters, missing-date checks and closed statuses. It uses ordinary formulas and manual updates, with no messaging or AI integration. Generic AI narration is disclosed. Own-channel portfolio demonstration, not paid-client work. No measured time savings, revenue results or live-interaction footage are claimed. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/C6_GYaSG_Ps

Parcel Sprint browser game prototype AI-assisted, self-produced original prototype by Jaco Taute. This is not paid-client work. Parcel Sprint is a one-minute, three-lane delivery game made with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Canvas. Players collect parcels, avoid roadworks and try to improve their local best score. It includes keyboard and on-screen steering, streak bonuses, pause/resume, replay and optional synthesized sound. The responsive interface and code-drawn graphics are contained in a single downloadable HTML file. No sign-up, backend, external assets or payment service is needed. Best scores stay in the browser when local storage is available. Supporting evidence includes actual browser screenshots, editable source and a saved automated-Chrome test report with 32 passing checks: 22 browser checks, 8 deterministic simulations, 1 full automated-play round and 1 synthetic browser-event check. These are not 32 manual playtests. Images: desktop-browser start screen, then gameplay in a 390-pixel-wide responsive browser viewport. The second image is browser emulation, not a physical-phone test; its local best is a test-browser score. No hosted deployment, physical-device test, human playtest or market validation is claimed. The sample demonstrates a runnable prototype, interface and game logic, with no paid-client results, validated demand, revenue or unaided human coding/design expertise claimed.

Interactive explainers are becoming my favorite thing. This was designed to explain a section of a web page with interaction. What I like about interactive animation like this on a website is that it makes the webpage shorter and the user experience more fun. I have been selling this approach to my clients lately; I can’t wait to do even more advanced experiences. This was done in Rive.
