Cover image for Unleash Rive Scripting: Create a Smooth Mini Driving Game
It's INSANE what @Rive (https://contra.com/company/rive) scripting unlocks 😱🚗 I produced this mini driving game proof-of-concept for the Rive x @Contra HQ (https://contra.com/contra) Scripting challenge in just a few days. Browser-based, buttery smooth, only ~500 KB! This latest version features: • AI cars racing that stick to the track • Keyboard and/or mouse controls • Smart camera follow + shake on crash • Checkpoints & timed laps What began as a quick experiment to test Rive's scripting capabilities is now dangerously close to a full game engine 🤯

This week I delivered an interactive, faux-3D iPhone mockup of a finance app crafted in @Rive. The animation allows visitors to explore a functional preview of the app’s home screen directly on the client’s website, with all the on-screen elements fully customisable at runtime.

Website design & development is usually a forward-thinking craft, but this one had me rewinding three decades! For SEGA and Supercell, I took a trip down memory lane, channelling my inner 90s child to create the online companion to a one-off retro-style magazine made by the original Mean Machines team, to promote Supercell’s Squad Busters smartphone game and its Sonic the hedgehog crossover. The brief was simple: Capture the spirit of 90s gaming mags — loud, cluttered layouts, bold typography, clashing colours — with one guiding word: nostalgia. The result? A digital homage that feels like flicking through a 1993 issue, reimagined for today's screens. Complete with a few 90s Easter eggs: ☎️ Dial-up modem sound 💾 Random “Blue Screen of Death” ✨ Cursor trail 🎵 Winamp-style music player 📝 Classic guestbook 🔢 Page-view counter

Cover image for I spent three nights building
I spent three nights building a lab that catches AI models lying. On the first live run, one of them did it on camera. Golden Arena. You sit down opposite a frontier model in Split or Steal, negotiate in the open, then you both choose in secret. It told me "a fair split sounds good to me, I'm a man of my word too." Then it took the whole $100. The receipt printed its own quote next to the betrayal stamp. There are five games. The fifth is Empire: four models, twelve turns, an economy, and private channels you get to read while they plot against each other. Last run put 22 promises on the table and exactly one delivery. Every accusation is mechanical. No AI judging another AI, and each one is gated by a written false-positive test. Two days before the deadline I caught the classifier calling a kept promise broken, and spent that session fixing it, because a false accusation about a named model is the worst thing an instrument like this can print. MIT, vanilla JS, Express the only dependency. Zero setup in demo mode, or bring your own OpenRouter key and face the real thing. For the #WebflowChallenge, I didn’t build a beautiful site. In fact, I built a fairly ugly one 😕 but that was intentional The goal wasn’t aesthetics, but disruption: subverting the judges expectations and pushing Webflow to its limits using the new code components (https://developers.webflow.com/code-components/introduction) from Webflow Conf 2025 (https://webflow.com/blog/webflow-conf-2025-keynote-recap) What started as tinkering became an MVP for something bigger: a complete paradigm shift in the way I think about Webflow... Introducing Flowcode - a developer-first framework for building full-stack production apps in Webflow.
