Nature doesn’t work in silos—and neither should business or policy. This video explores how systems thinking, inspired by ecology, helps us understand complexity, interdependence, and long-term consequences in decision-making. Where have you seen linear thinking fail in business, governance, or development—and what changed when a systems view was applied?

Cosmetics 101: What’s Really Inside Your Sunscreen Sunscreens rely on a combination of active and inactive ingredients. The active components protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation, while the base—oil or water—acts as a carrier. Mineral sunscreens, primarily zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, sit on the skin’s surface and reflect or scatter UV rays. They are widely regarded as physical blockers and are often positioned as natural alternatives to chemical sunscreens. Chemical sunscreens work by absorbing UV radiation and converting it into heat. Ingredients such as avobenzone, oxybenzone, homosalate, octinoxate, and octisalate are commonly used. Understanding sunscreen chemistry helps consumers make informed choices—balancing protection, safety, and formulation science. Adapted from Holy Beauty by Sudhir Ahluwalia.

Ghostwriting Sample: Cosmetics 101 — Sunscreens Sunscreens are not a modern invention. Ancient Egyptians used rice bran extract, jasmine, and lupine to prevent skin darkening. In India, sandalwood paste, turmeric, and sesame oil have been part of skincare traditions for thousands of years. Chinese practices relied on rice and herbal pastes, while Native American communities used extracts from Tsuga canadensis (pine) to soothe sunburns. Greek athletes applied olive oil combined with fine sand as a form of sun protection. Contemporary sunscreens work by absorbing, reflecting, or scattering UV radiation—creating a protective barrier before skin damage occurs.
