Hodan is an AI-powered visual storyboarding application built for filmmakers, animators, and creative directors. I built this tool to bridge the gap between AI ideation and traditional storyboarding, while solving a major concern in the film industry: the privacy and security of unreleased intellectual property (IP).
What I Built I engineered a highly interactive, local-first web application that allows users to write scenes, generate concept art via AI, and arrange them on a vector canvas. To ensure absolute data privacy for creators, I leveraged the modern File System Access API, meaning all storyboard files and assets are saved directly to the user's local hard drive—no cloud databases, no data harvesting.
Key Features & Technical Achievements:
- Bleeding-Edge Frontend: Built utilizing the absolute latest in web technologies, including React 19, Vite, Tailwind CSS v4, and Zustand for complex global state management.
- AI Concept Generation: Seamlessly integrated the Google Gemini API to act as a creative co-pilot, helping users instantly visualize shots, lighting, and framing directly inside the app.
- Local-First Architecture: Bypassed traditional backend storage by using the File System Access API, guaranteeing zero-latency saves and total IP protection for creators.
- In-Browser Export Engine: Engineered native, client-side rendering capable of compiling the storyboards into rich PDFs and animated MP4 animatics entirely within the browser.
- Interactive Canvas: Developed a smooth, responsive drag-and-drop vector interface for arranging shots, descriptions, and camera movements.
The Impact Hodan is a prime example of my ability to build highly complex, interactive frontend applications from scratch. It demonstrates my expertise in modern React architectures, my ability to seamlessly integrate LLMs/AI into practical SaaS tools, and my capability to handle heavy client-side processing like video and PDF generation.
